Aditya Bhatnagar joins Westbourne Investments from Cambridge Investment Research and AXA Advisors, having developed a focus on the wealth planning requirements of executives, managers and high income professionals, and after years as a private investor across several market cycles. Aditya grew up in Suffolk County, New York, before attending secondary school in India and returning to the United States for college, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
After working in the defense aerospace industry, he attended law school at Syracuse University before completing a Master of Science at Georgia Institute of Technology and then joining the emerging computer networking industry as a product development engineer. His experience with a successful startup company in the mid-1990s kindled a deep interest in the potential for wealth creation through an investment approach that was both opportunistic and risk-aware, and Aditya went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland to acquire the management and finance skills needed to sustain professional success in the field.
He continued as a private investor until his success through the 2008 financial crisis motivated him to enter the industry in service to others in his community. At AXA Advisors, he developed an expertise in asset protection planning, tax planning and estate planning and also worked with employer-sponsored retirement plans and executive benefits plans. Aditya is a proponent of balanced asset allocation in line with client financial objectives for growth and income, and favors an active approach beginning with fundamental analysis and asset valuation across global equity, fixed income and alternative sectors, and ending with the appropriate tax planning to preserve the maximum retention of wealth for the client.
Aditya has been resident in Fairfax, Virginia, since 2001, where he lives with his wife, Preeti, of 18 years and their two sons in high school and middle school, respectively. He is active in the Parent Teacher Student Association and volunteering at his children’s schools and has also been recently involved in Fairfax County Association for the Gifted as interim president. Aditya takes a keen interest in scientific problems and the career opportunities these may present for the children of today, and he loves relaxing with his family at live or televised theatrical and orchestral productions.
