Robert D. Long joined Westbourne Investments in 2024, having been a Managing Principal at GarMark Partners of Stamford, CT. Mr. Long was previously a Senior Partner at Webster Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, and prior to that, was Head of Asset Management and a member of the Management Committee at Allied Capital Corporation and its successor, Ares Capital Corporation. At Allied, he served on the Investment Committee and launched its third-party investment funds, which grew to $7.5 billion in 12 structured loan funds.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Long was a partner at Montgomery Securities (now Bank of America), specializing in merchant banking activities. He had previously been Head of Investment Banking and Merchant Banking for Nomura Securities North America. He began his career in 1978 at Credit Suisse First Boston in equity research, and was a Founding Partner and Head of High Yield Research and Sales in the firm's High Yield Bond Department. At CS First Boston he was awarded positions on four teams in the Institutional Investor Research rankings. Mr. Long holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in economics from McGill University and was a Chartered Financial Analyst from 1984 to 2012.
